the charter

Our ambition

The neomarco website puts travelers and tourists in contact with artisans, craftspeople and local producers so that they can bring authentic, unusual or ethical products and objects home with them.

We believe …

… that the development of tourism must be based on the long-term and must take into account the impact of tourists and their activity on environmental issues in a specific territory, respect local populations in both the ethical and social aspects.

… that we are all responsible for choosing an alternative form of tourism which respects the balance of cultural, natural and human patrimony and heritage in a given part of the world.

… that it is possible to promote a different kind of consumerism, by buying "local" while traveling.

… that traveling, exploring and buying locally are terrific ways to discover the creative resources which make a region or country's specificity and meet the men and women who are the craftspeople, off the beaten track.

Your implication

You share the desire to travel differently and help promote artisans, craftspeople and local producers.

You believe in great encounters.

You believe that by traveling, we can also take part in a region's development, support humanitarian projects or just contribute to local economic activity.

You identify - to the best of your knowledge - the authentic, unusual or ethical qualities of the objets and products you find, and recommend them to others. Perhaps you don't know enough about the conditions in which the object is produced or distributed… Other neomarco members will be able to complete your discription with what they know about your cool find!

Your cool finds

They are objects, creations and products of all kinds which are available for retail. Their creator or producer wishes to sell them, and they can be found in a store, in a workshop or on a market.

They are sold legally and respect local rules and regulations.

They can be bought locally - it is this direct acquisition that contributes to local development. You therefore identify the physical place they are sold in.

You consider them to be interesting for other travelers. You tell their story, describe them and tell us about the conditions in which you fell upon them. It is a moving and sharing moment!

You provide neomarco with your own personal texts and photographs.

These objects, creations and products have an author: check with the artisan, craftsperson or producer first to make sure that they agree with you sharing them and taking pictures of their work (not obligatory). Make sure to tell them about the neomarco website where they will be able to see your "cool find" once you have uploaded your files. (the "Terms of Use" section can tell you more about this).

Your contribution to the promotion of their know-how and creativity is respectful and an active form of solidarity.

Your own creations and products

You are a craftperson, creator, local producer? Seize this opportunity to share your work with the neomarco community of travelers!

Invite visitors and tourists from around the world to come meet you in your worshop or store. Tell them about yourself and the objects you make as well as the activities you offer.

Want to take it further?

Tell us more about who you are and the cool things you like, what you would do if you were the Head of Ministry of Travel and Tourism, the organizations and projects you support and take part in a collective discussion on social and economic development in the parts of the world you are visiting.
