What is it?
The Huicholes in Central Mexico have some of the most interesting traditional art in the world. Their entire life is centered around the peyote cactus and these bracelets represent different journeys they have made both in real life and in their dreams.
What I know about it
Bright and colorful these bracelets made of small beads have become very popular with Mexican youth and can be seen worn by people around Mexico. Several of the bracelets have images of the peyote cactus in the designs but it is hard for the untrained eye to locate. They are made using the end of an agave cactus to pick up and string the beads.
Why I like it
The Huichol way of life fascinates me and I find it amazing that they are able to support their unique way of life by selling bracelets like these. Wearing such a bracelet shows your support for the Huichol people.
